It’s that time again, when the crème de la crème of Hollywood and the world gather together on a Sunday the end of February-to the first two weeks of March, get all dressed up in their best designer duds, have their speeches prepared and vie for the golden boy that they will take home and maybe place on the back of their toilet. As I said in my best of post, 2017 was one hell of a year for film and honestly, it’s about damn time. This year’s nominees in the “best” categories are actually pretty accurate and this was not an easy feat because there was definitely an overabundance of options that year’s past were not so fortunate to have. 2017 was a great year for film. Thank you kindly, Millennium movie Gods!!! All in all I watched, from my count, 423 films in 2017. That may sound like a lot to some but I plan on smashing that in 2018. The films on this list will consist of what I consider the 17 Best and 10 Worst of 2017, 10 Best Horror, 3 WTF can my brain not unsee, 10 Best Shorts and 9 films that many may have missed. These films are based on my personal judgement experiencing it at the time, reminiscing after and speaking to others about the film and the impact it had on me. These may not be everyone’s best or worst and there are a few I was unable to see before 1/1/2018, (Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Post, The Mummy), but these are what I have chosen and I’m always happy to discuss people’s thoughts and opinions, the key word being discuss. Best Documentary of 2017 I actually only saw one but this was enough

The Worst of 2017 – Sidenote: I understand what it takes to make a film, (the hours, hard work, time away from loved ones, frustration, money, time, time, time) and I’m not negating that. I’m disappointed and in some cases angry with the end results these films brought and the time I could have been doing other things, ANYTHING, besides watch them.
